Last night was surely a night to remember. Election Day always brings a little bit of anxiety and apprehension as I watch the results come in slowly. It couldn’t have happened without the dedication of so many volunteers who rolled up their sleeves to bring out the vote.
Over the past month, we have talked at your doorsteps, on the phone, and in town halls. We shared some time – and probably a good amount of food – at your parties and other special events. We talked about your concerns, but also about your hopes and dreams.
Last night at the ballot boxes, you gave me the opportunity to bring your concerns to Ottawa. But your part in shaping a better Winnipeg North and a better Canada does not stop there.
I invite you to come by the Keewatin Street McDonald’s on Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to have a coffee and continue our discussions.
Together, working side-by-side, we can do better. We can ensure that all people have a fair shot at the full promise of the Canadian life that is admired the world over.
Once again, thank you to all the residents of Winnipeg North!
